4 The secret of success to be a guest at the top of the TV talk show host

The phone rings. You hear the voice of the authoritative says,  Hello, I am a manufacturer... Good Morning America or Oprah, or Larry King Live or any other top talk show, they call it. This is a great moment you've been waiting for. What do you do after you hold your breath?

Manufacturers make immediate assessments in thirty seconds-or less. If you get this coveted call from a manufacturer, don't just talk  to him: you are auditioned. You will be accepted or eliminated at your events as guests. How to get past the auditions?

Secret 1: Ask before you speak before you even open your mouth to show yourself and your story to the producer, make them a simple question: Can you tell me a little about the kinds of shows that you have imagined? * Ask for other words, producer of the angle he is planning to take.

That has two advantages. First, you have time to deal with the shock and collect your thoughts.

Second, after you've heard the manufacturer's answer, you can align your pitch to the kind of information he was looking for. Listen carefully to the corner he cares about and adjust your points to you. Publicists often use this technique to book their customers at the fair. You can give before – so you are in a good position to tell only the most relevant information about your customers.

Secret 2: Wow-producers with a nut shell follow the advice of jazz musician Dizzy Gillespie:  It's not how much you play. That's how much you leave out. Keep your list of call points by phone when you call the manufacturer (or the manufacturer of your call) so that you are brief. You will have already rehearsed your points so that they sound natural and inviting. Be prepared with several different angles or pitches, a different way than the slope of your information. No one on these shows without an interview before the trial, says publicist Leslie Rossman. Be great interviews, but don't worry about the products you want to sell, because if you have great guests and you make a big TV, you will want them.  And remember the words of Robert Frost: Half the world consists of people who say something and can not, and the other half who have nothing to say and say again and again.

Secret 3: Prove you're not crazy if you're crazy in the air region, the producers would lose their job. What was crazy? You may think that it is a positive feature to be enthusiastic (and that's it too), but anyone who is too passionate for passion looks nuts. Bestselling author and screenwriter Richard Price talks about this phenomenon of harmful sensation goodness said what happened, you can be very excited by your own strength to do good. Do not be swept away by this sensation.

One way to find out if you are too excited is that you praise your point at high speed with the energy of a locomotive that will stop the lever. I remember a man who called me about how he took Starbucks on his own, what he felt was wrong. He wants me to promote his cause. While this was perhaps the great story of David versus Goliath, he was long on emotion and short on facts. Some statistics or numbers will have the temperament of his mania.

But he also never checked in with me to see if he got my interest. Speaking loudly and barely pausing for a breath, she seemed to be a man who would not go well in the direction. Uniwardness is off, not involved.

If you talk to the producers who spoke for 30 seconds or so and then check in by asking, is the type of information you are looking for?  Listen to spoken cues, such as Push's gruner, or uh, Huhs.

Secret 4: Can you sign the point? Contributor S to the popular radio show This American Life,  hosted by Ira Glass, have taken to the call of the wrap-up epiphany at the end of a story, the point. This is the moment when the narrator gives his perspective on history in an attempt to rise from the ordinary to the universal.

Another radio personality, Garrison Keillor, is a master of it. He tells long, wandering (advice that is not good for you), and then tie the whole storyline in a way that is coherent and satisfying. As a guest, you want to illuminate your story with great excellent point that helps the audience see the importance of their history in their world and the world in general. Instead of hitting two-against-fours upside down, one wants to share his insights with a feather-like touch. Through the framing of their history, the producers recalled that they are a thinker and can contribute great understanding and clarity to history, thereby increasing the attraction.
